Rosie Gaunt-Mathieson is an award-winning TV, film, and commercials director and writer. Her work has won Broadcast and RTS awards and has been nominated for a Rose d’Or. In commercials, her work has earned Ad of the Day accolades from Campaign Magazine and The Drum.

In television, Rosie recently directed taster In The Mix for Hat Trick and six-part double RTS nominated comedy Ruby Speaking for ITV, starring Jayde Adams and Katherine Kelly, produced by Yellow Door. She has directed episodes of Princess Mirror-Belle for the BBC, the Sky short film Lemons, starring Jordan Stephens, with CPL. Further credits include sketch series Big Juice for Channel 4 with Merman, and comedy shorts Laugh Lessons for BBC Three. Short film Just Delivered, created and directed by Rosie, was nominated at several prolific international festivals, qualified for BAFTA consideration, and won the Audience Award at the Calgary International Film Festival. Additionally, Jack Rooke’s Dawn of a New Gay for Channel 4, directed by Rosie, was selected for the London Film Festival.

Rosie has served as a juror on BAFTA and RTS panels. Through the Directors UK Inspire scheme, she is mentored by Jim Archer, and she herself mentors Mac Montero and Tia Perkins via the same programme.

In commercials, Rosie has directed campaigns for some of the UK’s most iconic brands. Her credits include Victorian Plumbing (Campaign’s Ad of the Day), all of Iceland’s 2024 campaigns—including three Christmas spots starring Josie Gibson, Tesco Stronger Starts with Jessica Ennis-Hill, Tesco Delivers Christmas featuring Jamie Redknapp and Fred Sirieix, and Tesco No Naughty List with Jordan North. Other highlights include three spots for P&O Ferries voiced by Isy Suttie, Expedia Travel Tips starring Dascha Polanco, Bumble: One Gal Show with Aimee Lou Wood (The Drum’s Ad of the Day), PG Tips Wellness starring Judi Love, and Maltesers: Late Night Feed with Ellie Taylor.

Rosie also directed and wrote for UK and US versions of Beauty Pie’s first TV commercials, where she oversaw the writers’ room and contributed as a writer. She has scripted spots for Bank of Ireland and LNER: Get Out There, starring Edith Bowman, both of which she also directed.

Rosie began her career working with Alan Partridge and Vic and Bob. Before transitioning to directing, she served as Director of Development at ABC International, led scripted comedy development at Little Dot Studios, and worked in development at Me and You Productions. During this time, she worked extensively with comedy and drama scripts and collaborated with a range of talent.

Frustrated by the lack of female directors, Rosie decided to become the change she wanted to see in the industry.
